Block Print & Monoprint

I really enjoyed making my block print although it took almost a week to finish because I had to carve out most of the block and only leave thin lines. I was happy I picked out the picture I chose because I felt i t was suitable for the style of art I was performing because block prints are typically get better results with simpler designs and alot of contrast between the solid lines and the negative space. Also, my monoprint matched my block print because of the style of art I used with the two girls. The good qualities of my art pieces are the dominance and contrast of the girls on the plain paper.

Book Pages: Paper Vase

I enjoyed making my Paper Vase. I thought it was a good idea to shade the vase only using varying magazine clippings of text. However, I could have spent more time and effort with planning and projecting my thoughts through the artwork because I don't think it came out very well. The reason why it didn't turn out good is because it lacked many of the key elements such as unity and movent. Although, it had dominance because the vase was the main focus point.

Own Choice

My own choice was a painting of a picture I took of my cat. I really enjoyed painting this because my favorite thing to paint are animals and specifically, cats. I thought I captured the elements of dominance, varying textures in my cat's fur and the background, and I used subtle contrasting colors between my cat's sandy, orange-tinted fur with his bright blue eyes so that his eyes would pop extra.

Perspective Room: Quiet Day At Home

~~~~~~
The elements I used to create this pencil drawing are contrast, dominance, and the use of a wide range of color with shading. The couch and shelf are the main focus point because it is darker than most of the elements in the room. I used I large range of gray shades especially in the lap, shelf and walls.
Skateboard: Let It Rain
[Photo: In auditorium, I will put it up later]
~~~~~~
This project was done using my favorite contrasting colors, blue and orange. I created the element of dominance by adding a blue bird that is the main focus point. The other characteristics of the piece of art help create the dominance of the bird.

Angelina Jolie

~~~~~~                    ~~~~~~
My portrait of Angelina Jolie is one of my favorite projects I worked on because it took alot of time and effort. I believe I captured her realistically through high contrast and shading.
Scott Westfeld
~
I enjoyed sketching this picture of my favorite book's cover. I used a wide range of value to create sharper and more dominant features such as the woman's eyes, hair and lips to contrast with the woman's fair skin and whites of her eyes. Also, I used shading and shadows to add realistic elements to my portrait.
